Special language training in primary school.
The right to special Norwegian education and bilingual professional education appears in Education Act § 3-6 and § 3-7.
- Special Norwegian training is enhanced, customized training in Norwegian
- Bilingual subject training is training in subjects in Norwegian and in the student's mother tongue
- Mother tongue training is training in the student's own mother tongue
At Askøyskolen, we provide bilingual vocational training.
Offer for newly arrived students
What kind of offer the student gets depends on age and school background.
- 1st stage: Training in a regular group at the local school
- 2.-4. level: Training in a regular group at the local school or in the introductory class at the primary level
- 5.-10. level: Training in a regular group at the local school or in the introductory class at the primary and secondary levels
- Newly arrived pupils must be surveyed before a decision is made on where they will start at the ashøy school
Introductory classes
- Kleppestø primary school has an introductory class for newly arrived pupils at the primary level
- Kleppestø secondary school has an introductory class for newly arrived pupils at the secondary level
- The introductory classes have a mix of ages 2nd - 7th grade and 8th - 10th grade
- The 1st graders start directly together with Norwegian-speaking students
