Regulations for school transport

Pupils are entitled to free school transport according to certain criteria

The school shuttle scheme entitles the student to a free school shuttle between home and school at fixed start and end times, on ordinary school days (not Saturday, Sunday or school holidays).
If you think you are entitled to free school transport, you must contact the school, who apply for a school kiss on behalf of the students.

Which distances apply?

  • students in year 1 who live more than 2 km from the school
  • pupils in grades 2-10 who live more than 4 km from the school
  • upper secondary students who live more than 6 km from the school

Particularly dangerous school road

Pupils may be entitled to a school bus because of a particularly dangerous or difficult school route. Askøy municipality has defined stretches that are considered dangerous and that give the right to a school bus. Here, students are given the right without an application or individual decision. Pupils can also apply for the right to transport outside these sections. A reasoned application is sent to the school.

In the case of a particularly dangerous school road, free school transport applies to these sections and periods

NB: Winter shuttle applies in the period 15 November to 28 February
