Occupations and career choices for students in the 9th and 10th grades

Fagdag is a concept where pupils in the 9th and 10th grades get to try out a profession in a company.

Why participate in a professional day in a company?
  • To contribute positively in the work of guiding young people in their own municipality / local area.
  • To present our professions and our industry directly to potential future recruitment candidates.
  • To help develop active, creative and productive people who believe that their own resources can contribute to their own local community.
  • Help influence future employees and give students in Askøyskolen practical learning.
  • Help motivate students in everyday school life by linking school and working life more closely together.
What happens on a professional day in a company?
  • The students receive information about the profession, education, job opportunities and preferred personal characteristics in the profession (information).
  • Professionals demonstrate and explain how the profession is practiced (demonstration).
  • The students can carry out professional tasks that characterize the profession (trial). The activities that the students get to try can be laid out here as a trail with several workstations.

The time frame is from 09:00-14:00, but can be adapted to the company's activity.

Who are the students who participate in the vocational day in the company?

From 5 to 30 students, depending on the size and nature of the company, from 9th and 10th grade (each day) from all 4 secondary schools on Askøy

  • Kleppestø secondary school
  • Erdal secondary school
  • Ravnanger secondary school
  • Fauskanger children's and youth school

The students must apply in writing and give a reason why they want to participate in a professional day in a particular company. This is part of the students' preparatory work.

In this way, students will learn to collect, assess and apply information about education and work, get to know themselves and develop skills in making choices.

It is the schools' task to select interested students for the companies and accompany the students where there is a need for this.

When will the professional day in the company take place?
  • October for students in the 10th grade
  • April for pupils in the 9th grade
Which companies can participate?

In order for us to succeed, we need help from local businesses.

If you have the opportunity to arrange a subject day for students in 9th and/or 10th grade, contact the school.
